The Electrical Maintenance Technician's key duties include inspecting, planning maintenance, and supervising the maintenance activities within their designated areas. Additionally, the position involves addressing scheduled work orders and managing downtime tasks, which encompass Preventative Maintenance and Corrective Action work orders.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conducts inspections, collaborates with operations, and reviews downtime reports to stay informed about maintenance concerns in their assigned areas.
  • Maintains an updated record of all maintenance issues within their designated areas.
  • Coordinates with the Electrical Maintenance Engineer, Maintenance Group Leader, and external contractors to ensure timely scheduling and completion of necessary work based on urgency.
  • Collaborates with the Electrical Maintenance Supervisor and Engineer on projects and upgrades, which may require interaction with equipment manufacturers or other external entities.
  • Ensures that all essential spare parts are available for their assigned areas, working alongside the Electrical Maintenance Supervisor and Engineer.
  • Maintains cleanliness in their assigned areas, ensuring they are free from debris and used components, and schedules housekeeping tasks as needed.
  • Identifies and replaces defective or damaged components affecting the Long Products Rolling or Finishing Mills equipment, including sourcing and installing necessary parts.
  • Completes assigned maintenance work orders, which may involve electrical, mechanical, or automation tasks, performed during downtime or while equipment is operational.
  • Documents relevant information to communicate with the Electrical Maintenance team.
  • Completes PM Check Sheets as required.
  • Undertakes miscellaneous tasks assigned by the Electrical Maintenance Supervisor, Engineer, or Long Products Manager.
  • Provides coverage for other Electrical Maintenance Technicians during shifts as necessary.
  • Acts as the primary contact during off-hours for significant issues and equipment failures.
  • Physical demands include lifting up to 50 pounds, climbing, bending, and working in confined spaces.

WORKING RELATIONSHIPS:
The Electrical Maintenance Technician operates as a collaborative member of the Maintenance Crew during the day shift. The role involves independent troubleshooting and repair of electrical and automation systems, alongside teamwork with other Maintenance Crew members on work orders or breakdowns. The Technician engages with Maintenance Engineers and Supervisors regarding work orders and breakdowns and must interact with operations personnel to assess the effectiveness of repairs on existing and new equipment. Additionally, the Technician collaborates with external vendors and contractors for parts ordering and maintenance scheduling.


MINIMUM EDUCATION, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED).
  • Two years of industrial experience and/or a technical degree in a related field.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Mobility within the plant is essential, with communication abilities necessary for the role.


HEALTH AND SAFETY:
Adhere to the Occupational Health and Safety Act and regulations, follow company safety protocols, and report any deficiencies in protective equipment immediately. Utilize required safety gear, including safety shoes, glasses, hearing protection, and hard hats. Maintain a clean and safe work environment and comply with Lockout Tagout (LOTO) procedures for designated machinery.


WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Work in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and regulations.
