Neonatal Specialist

As a Neonatologist at Hackensack University Medical Center, you will be responsible for providing high-quality, patient-centered care to newborns and their families. Your expertise will be sought after by physicians and other healthcare professionals for consultations and advice on neonatal care.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide inpatient and outpatient consultations for newborns through 21 years of age.
- Perform and interpret diagnostic tests to ensure accurate diagnoses and effective treatment plans.
- Offer telephone advice in response to physician's clinical questions, ensuring timely and informed decision-making.
- Collaborate with the Section Chief in short and long-range planning for the Neonatology Section, driving innovation and excellence in patient care.
- Communicate effectively with other institutions requesting neonate transport, ensuring safe and efficient transport of patients.
- Participate in a neonatal follow-up clinic, providing ongoing care and support to patients and families.
- Assist in Performance Improvement and quality assessment activities in the Neonatology Section, driving continuous quality improvement.
- Participate in 24-hour coverage for the practice (on-call responsibility) and participate in backup call, ensuring seamless patient care.
- Work in conjunction with Nurse Managers for the L&D, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, and the Nursery, driving policy development, patient satisfaction, and other initiatives.
- Serve as an educational resource for nursing staff, pediatric hospitalists, students, residents, fellows, and attendings at Hackensack University Medical Center and in the community, promoting excellence in education and training.
- Participate in effective communication with nursing leadership, clinical personnel, and families, ensuring open and transparent communication.
- Contribute to the process of professional billing operations within the section through accurate and timely completion of bills.
- Interacting with and responding to patient survey and patient grievances regarding quality of care, ensuring patient satisfaction and trust.
- M.D. degree from a recognized medical school.
- Eligible for faculty appointment at the New Jersey Medical School.
- Ability to interface effectively with professional personnel.
- Board certified in Pediatrics by the American Board of Pediatrics.
- Board certified/eligible in Neonatology by the American Board of Pediatrics, with appropriate re-certification.
- Medical license in the State of New Jersey.
