Job Title: Senior Engineer, Cloud Architecture
Your Contribution:
As a Senior Engineer specializing in Cloud Architecture, you will play a crucial role in the design, development, and validation of cloud infrastructure for Intelsat's advanced network solutions. Your expertise will facilitate collaboration across the organization to shape Intelsat's comprehensive hybrid cloud framework, encompassing both public and private cloud initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure the design integrity of cloud infrastructure components, such as network interface cards, memory, and cabling.
- Keep the host environment current, including operating systems and software updates along with their dependencies.
- Configure and implement virtual network functions (VNFs) and containerized network functions (CNFs) within cloud virtualization and orchestration platforms, including vSphere and Rancher.
- Diagnose and resolve issues related to the deployment of VNFs and CNFs.
- Develop, revise, and maintain pertinent documentation and design schematics for transition to engineering teams.
- Apply best practices in security management for cloud computing.
- Identify and address known security vulnerabilities for hosted virtual machines.
- Assist in enabling new network services that depend on cloud infrastructure.
- Explore technologies, systems, and methodologies to optimize capital and operational expenditures.
- Support Intelsat's technology roadmap, focusing on data center architecture and orchestration of virtual network functions within the global network.
- Collaborate with subject matter experts to design cloud infrastructure that integrates effectively with Intelsat's IP/MPLS network and future mobile network technologies.
- Assist technical leads in automating business processes and orchestrating network services to ensure efficient allocation of cloud resources.
- Contribute to the development of cloud monitoring tools for data centers.
- Support cloud leads in initiatives for both private and public cloud environments.
Required Qualifications:
- This position is subject to EAR/ITAR regulations; candidates must be US Persons (US Citizens, Permanent Residents, Asylees, Refugees).
- A bachelor's degree in engineering or a related technology field.
- A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in cloud architectures and associated network functions.
- Technical proficiency in data center virtualization, containerization, and orchestration of VNFs/CNFs within a global hybrid cloud environment.
- Experience with technologies such as RHEL, Kubernetes, Docker, virtualization, public cloud services, Git, Ansible, and Terraform.
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, resolve complex issues, and build consensus to advance projects.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience in virtualizing key network functions for next-generation software-defined networks, mobile networks, and content delivery systems.
- Familiarity with ETSI NFV, ONF/CORD, and other relevant standards.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Access, etc.).
Success Indicators:
- Demonstration of core company behavioral competencies.
- Possession of essential soft skills for Intelsat, such as adaptability, creative problem-solving, teamwork, openness, and fostering an inclusive workplace culture.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with Standards Definition Organizations and standards pertinent to cloud technologies.
- Knowledge of architectures and solutions for Mobile Edge Computing (MEC).
- Technical expertise in Network Function Virtualization and Software-Defined Networking technologies, including Linux, CentOS, SRIOV, DPDK, OpenStack, VMware, KVM, OpenShift, Rancher, OVS, JSON, REST, YANG, NetConf, RestConf, OSI model, Ethernet, IP, UDP/TCP.
- Understanding of cloud architectures tailored for space-based communication networks.
