Position Overview

Hotel Equities, a distinguished leader in hotel development and management, is seeking an exceptional Facilities Operations Supervisor for the Fairfield Inn & Suites in Columbia, SC.

Role Objective:

Support the maintenance manager in overseeing daily operations and responsibilities, ensuring the effective execution of all property and equipment maintenance and repairs. Monitor life safety systems and utilities while assisting in departmental administration to comply with corporate, franchise, and local regulations, thereby safeguarding assets, guests, and staff. Supervise daily operations and recommend procedural enhancements. Manage and control expenses effectively. Deliver warm, knowledgeable service that assures guests they have made the right choice.

  • Lead the maintenance team; conduct interviews, schedule shifts, train, develop, coach, and provide constructive feedback. Facilitate open communication and make recommendations for performance evaluations, problem resolution, and disciplinary actions as necessary.
  • Establish and implement preventive maintenance programs for property and equipment, adhering to corporate standards and local regulations to ensure safety and satisfaction for all guests and staff, while maintaining the property in excellent condition.
  • Prioritize and schedule service requests, monitoring completion to guarantee customer satisfaction and safety.
  • Regularly test and inspect life safety systems to ensure they are fully operational at all times, protecting the property, guests, and employees.
  • Track utility consumption to assess the efficiency of existing systems.
  • Review procurement requests and monitor expenditures to ensure adherence to budgetary goals.
  • Assist in departmental administration by preparing and maintaining schedules, logs, and records to ensure smooth operations and minimize liabilities.

Qualifications and Skills:

High School diploma or equivalent.

Experience with major hotel brands such as Marriott, Hilton, IHG, Wyndham, or Hyatt.

This role requires the following abilities:

  • Advanced knowledge of the Building Management/Engineering field, including management of personnel and complex issues.
  • Ability to investigate and analyze activities and information in a specialized area, drawing logical conclusions and recommendations.
  • Strong supervisory skills.
  • Capability to provide information and services to hotel management and guests.
  • Excellent auditory skills for effective communication with management and staff.
  • Strong visual acuity for inspecting hotel premises.
  • Effective verbal communication skills for interactions with management and staff.
  • High comprehension and literacy for understanding procedures, reports, and instructions.
  • Physical ability to lift, push, pull, and carry weights up to 25 lbs. and more, as required for hotel equipment and machinery.
  • Frequent bending and kneeling for repairs and maintenance tasks.
  • Mobility throughout the hotel, including all floors and varying heights. Use of ladders and lifts may be necessary.
  • Continuous standing required throughout the day.
  • Occasional climbing of stairs and ladders as needed.
  • Limited driving for supplies and equipment, generally within a short distance.
