Overview:
Under the guidance of the Associate Director of Nursing, the Nursing Care Administrative Supervisor is tasked with overseeing designated units to assess, supervise, and ensure the quality of care provided aligns with established standards and protocols. Additionally, this role encompasses the comprehensive management of the Nursing Department during evening and night shifts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Facilitates the planning, execution, and assessment of nursing care for residents during rounds.
  • Conducts rounds to evaluate resident needs and the quality of care administered by staff.
  • Ensures adherence to clinical documentation standards through regular reviews of records, care plans, and related documentation.
  • Engages with residents and their families for supportive and educational purposes regarding health.
  • Implements contemporary methods for delivering nursing care services within the assigned units.
  • Assists in the initiation and accurate completion of the Minimum Data Set Plus (MDS+).
  • Monitors and assesses clinical initiatives that enhance residents' quality of life, such as restraint reduction and incontinence programs.
  • Leads staff meetings and conferences on a monthly basis, providing minutes to the Associate Director/Director.
  • Offers guidance and serves as a resource for nursing staff.
  • Acts as a change agent, fostering positive attitudes and relationships among team members.
  • Contributes to staffing patterns based on resident care requirements.
  • Participates in the orientation of new staff, evaluates their performance, and makes necessary recommendations.
  • Supports established goals, objectives, and standards for the unit, communicating them effectively to the team.
  • Promotes compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Clarifies policies and procedures to the nursing staff.
  • Monitors attendance and punctuality of team members.
  • Engages in the progressive disciplinary process as needed.
  • Maintains a safe and sanitary environment for both residents and staff, reporting any environmental hazards.
  • Identifies educational needs of staff and collaborates with nursing education to develop training programs that enhance staff skills.
  • Participates in ongoing Performance Improvement initiatives, documenting findings and making recommendations to the Director.
  • Prepares and submits monthly and annual reports to the Director/Associate Director of Nursing.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of labor management issues.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned by the Director/Associate Director of Nursing, including tasks essential for resident welfare and facility operations during emergencies.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or currently enrolled in a program leading to a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing.
  • Master's Degree in Nursing.

Experience:

  • Proven clinical expertise and leadership capabilities.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Proficient in utilizing electronic health record systems and relevant healthcare and billing systems.
  • Familiarity with RUGS, PRI, and MDS.
  • Genuine interest in geriatrics and restorative nursing practices.
  • Documented competence in caring for individuals with AIDS.
  • Licensure/Certification: New York State Nursing License required.

Licenses and Certifications:

  • Currently licensed and registered as a professional nurse in New York.
  • BCLS Certification.
  • IV Certification.
  • Completion of an Orientation Program for caring for individuals with AIDS.

Physical Requirements:

  • Consistent with the demands of working in patient care, radiation-emitting machinery, and office environments.
  • Position requires prolonged periods of standing, reaching, and walking throughout the workday.
  • Ability to stoop, bend, lift, and carry items weighing up to 25 pounds.
