QUALIFICATIONS:
- Valid Michigan teaching certificate with Spanish and ESL Endorsement (Working toward ESL Endorsement is acceptable).
- Knowledge and experience in teaching Spanish, preferably at a secondary level.
- Experience with Spanish speaking communities / cultures.
- Knowledge of and able to apply best instructional practices.
- Trained in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) and Sheltered Instruction Observation Protocol (SIOP).
- Strong personal integrity and professional ethics.
- Strong classroom management and organizational skills.
- Possess good communication skills.
- Positive behavioral support experience preferred.
- Ability to plan and coordinate with general education teachers.
- Ability to maintain accurate records and meet multiple deadlines.
- A desire to continue to grow as a professional.
- Ability/experience leading team meetings.
- Understands diversity of student learning styles and can skillfully prepare and apply differentiated learning experiences.
- Experience working with students of varying academic abilities.
- Demonstrates ability to use data to drive instructional decisions.
- Computer literate with a proven proficiency to effectively apply and integrate technology to support meaningful teaching and successful student learning.
- Experience/training in Restorative Practices and Trauma Informed Care is preferred.
- Ability to develop/sustain positive working relationships with students, staff, and the school community.
- Motivates students and influences their behavior.
- Creates and executes clear, logical instructional plans collaboratively that produce strong results in student learning.
- Maintains and communicates standards of pupil behavior and classroom management expectations for the purpose of providing a safe and secure learning environment.
- Creates and thrives in a professional environment that is one of mutual respect, teamwork, and accountability.
- Maintain the drive for results by demonstrating persistence, directness, and the ability to monitor and plan ahead.
- Understands and implements Board of Education Policy, Administrative Guidelines, and organizational practices for the purpose of consistency and compliance.
