Job Summary

The Civil/Utility Project Manager is responsible for managing civil utility construction projects located throughout the Hampton Roads area. This role involves overseeing projects from start to finish, ensuring timely completion, and maintaining high-quality results.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage customer interface and ensure customer satisfaction
  • Develop means and methods for project execution
  • Analyze and competitively purchase subcontractor services and materials
  • Review proposed designs for constructability and value-engineering
  • Negotiate contracts and create project schedules
  • Problem-solve and coordinate project meetings as needed
  • Keep project records and documents up-to-date
  • Manage project costs and change orders
  • Physically inspect projects to monitor progress and compliance with project standards
Essential Functions
  • Coordinate all activities with the Foreman and project team
  • Serve as liaison between the division lead and project foreman
  • Own all project finances
  • Organize, understand, and maintain up-to-date contract documents
  • Prepare the project construction schedule in conjunction with the Foreman and required subcontractor input
  • Coordinate the intent and implementation of the final project budget
Requirements
  • B.S. in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field
  • 5 years of industry experience, preferably in civil utility construction (water, sewage, and drainage)
  • Extensive experience and knowledge of Construction estimating, means and methods, accounting, document administration, and industry practices
  • Experience with construction industry scheduling software
  • Previous experience managing employees preferred
