Job SummaryOgden Clinic is seeking a skilled Polysomnographic Technician to join our team on a part-time basis. As a Polysomnographic Technician, you will play a critical role in the diagnosis and treatment of sleep disorders.
Key Responsibilities- Provide Exceptional Patient Care: Offer professional and courteous service to all patients, ensuring their comfort and safety throughout the sleep study process.
- Conduct Sleep Studies: Collect, analyze, and integrate patient information to identify and meet patient-specific needs, and determine final testing parameters in conjunction with the ordering physician or clinical director and laboratory protocols.
- Prepare and Calibrate Equipment: Prepare and calibrate equipment required for testing to ensure proper functioning and make adjustments when necessary.
- Apply Electrodes and Sensors: Apply electrodes and sensors according to accepted published standards.
- Perform Physiologic Calibrations: Perform appropriate physiologic calibrations to ensure proper signals and make needed adjustments.
- Document Routine Observations: Document routine observations, including sleep stages and clinical events, changes in procedure, and significant events, to facilitate scoring and interpretation of results.
- Implement Interventions: Implement appropriate interventions, verify collected data, and provide age-specific care through the diagnostic and treatment sessions.
- Maintain Equipment: Perform routine and complex equipment care and maintenance.
- Generate Accurate Reports: Demonstrate a basic understanding of sleep stages and events using professionally accepted guidelines and generate accurate reports.
- Education: High School Diploma or general education degree (GED). On-the-job training.
- Language Skills: Proficient in reading and interpreting documents, such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Able to write routine reports and correspondence, as well as speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.
- Certifications: Maintain CPR or BCLS certification according to laboratory policies and procedures.
- Computer Skills: Experience in basic word processing required.
- Characteristics: Display maturity and the ability to establish good rapport with patients, public, and staff. Have the capacity to deal with patients in poor health and additional accommodations. Be self-motivated and effectively perform duties in the absence of direct supervision. Maintain a positive can-do attitude. Protect confidential information, records, and/or reports. Communicate effectively in a professional and courteous manner. Possess good organizational skills.
- Physical Demands: Requires frequent standing, using hands/fingers, reaching, balancing, talking, and hearing. Requires occasional walking, sitting, stooping, and crouching. Requires regular lifting/moving up to 10 pounds, frequently 25 pounds, and occasionally 50 pounds.
- Visual Requirements: Close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
- Exposure to Infectious Agents: Employee may be exposed to infectious agents, including blood-borne pathogens.
