The Home team is on the lookout for a skilled Infrastructure Solutions Engineer to become a vital part of our expanding Engineering Team. In this role, you will significantly contribute to the DevOps practices across our application engineering teams.
The Infrastructure Solutions Engineer position demands a comprehensive skill set across various technologies, including but not limited to: networking, storage solutions, database management, computing resources, web services, authentication protocols, IT operations, monitoring and observability tools, resilient design, disaster recovery strategies, cost-effective cloud architecture, build and deployment tools, developer tools, infrastructure as code, information security (including security architecture, vulnerability management, and incident response), and compliance measures. We are dedicated to fostering the growth of our teams' expertise in these areas, both individually and collectively.
The ideal candidate will exhibit exceptional organizational skills and a collaborative spirit, with a genuine enthusiasm for solving cross-functional challenges. You will not be working in isolation — a collaborative, cross-disciplinary team will support you.
Key Responsibilities:
- Offer architectural design assistance for new initiatives and lead larger infrastructure projects.
- Assist application engineering teams with various requests related to cloud infrastructure, DevOps, system architecture, and CI/CD.
- Engage in escalation support during outages, ensuring service restoration and identifying root causes to avert future occurrences.
- Conduct training sessions and provide one-on-one guidance on topics such as AWS, Terraform, CI/CD processes, command-line tools, and security practices.
- Develop automation and reusable modules for standard patterns, such as Terraform modules and GitHub Actions templates, to enhance consistency and simplify processes, enabling software teams to work more efficiently.
- Monitor, report, and provide recommendations concerning cloud expenditure.
- Participate in active pair programming with teammates requiring assistance and help mentor and develop junior talent.
- Engage in formal and informal code and architecture evaluations.
- Continuously seek opportunities to enhance the codebase: establish standards, create tools, and automate tasks to improve team efficiency.
- Contribute to a culture that values experimentation, Agile development, and intellectual curiosity.
- Help cultivate a positive team atmosphere.
Qualifications:
- At least 3 years of experience in infrastructure engineering.
- Expertise in Terraform.
- Experience working with Amazon Web Services (AWS).
- Proficiency in version control systems like Git.
- Familiarity with Linux operating systems.
- Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker.
- Knowledge of GitHub Actions.
- Experience with scanning tools like Cycode.
- Familiarity with telemetry and monitoring tools such as New Relic or AWS CloudWatch.
- Experience with software development methodologies like Agile or Scrum.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines.
- A growth mindset with a strong desire to learn and excel in a technology-driven environment.
- Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration, including the ability to convey technical information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
- AWS Solutions Architect Certification.
- Ability to autonomously design scalable, maintainable, secure, and reusable solutions by leveraging various web services, software tools, and architectural approaches.
Compensation:
- USA Compensation Range: $100,000 - $130,000
*Note that actual salary is determined by geographic location, qualifications, and experience.
