About the Role: The 2M Med/Surg & Telemetry Unit at Mercy Hospital is committed to providing care to a variety of surgical and medical/telemetry patients. As a Registered Nurse (RN) Resident, you will engage in a tailored year-long residency program designed to meet your individual needs and pace. This program will enable you to deliver direct nursing care while being paired with a mentor who will guide you toward success. You will enhance your clinical judgment, develop outstanding communication skills, and master complex nursing techniques.

Key Responsibilities:

- Provide direct nursing care in accordance with established protocols and policies.
- Adjust priorities for patient care based on acuity, patient preferences, and available resources.
- Initiate and maintain interventions to ensure safe and effective patient care.
- Respond to health risks and take appropriate actions to mitigate them.

- Document patient care in accordance with established guidelines.

Qualifications:
- Graduate from an accredited nursing program.
- BSN preferred.
Certifications Required:
- Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).
- Proof of Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) upon hire.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification may be required based on the clinical area.
- Additional certifications may be required based on specific departmental needs.
Work Environment:
- Requires critical thinking, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Must be able to function in a high-stress environment and respond appropriately.
Physical Requirements:
- Full range of body motion, including lifting and handling patients.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Corrected vision and hearing within normal ranges.
- Exposure to communicable diseases and body fluids.
- Medium physical demands, including lifting and moving objects.
Personal Protective Equipment:
- Adhere to Standard Precautions and utilize personal protective equipment as required.
