Pharmacy Technician Job Description

Riverside Health System is seeking a skilled Pharmacy Technician to join our team. As a Pharmacy Technician, you will play a vital role in providing technical support for pharmacy services, ensuring the safe and efficient dispensing of medications, and maintaining accurate records.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide technical support for pharmacy services, including receiving and confirming prescriptions, preparing and dispensing medications, and maintaining pharmacy records.
  • Perform inventory control, ensuring proper storage and stocking of medications.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of pharmacy practice and workflows to provide quality patient care and meet safety standards.
  • Interact with customers and peers, utilizing excellent customer service skills, and answer questions and own issues to completion.
  • Properly measure and mix medications, print labels, and ensure safe dispensing.
  • Complete compliance audits and financial transactions, and assist management with inspections, audits, reports, and training to ensure compliance and quality.
Requirements:
  • Program Graduate, Pharmacy Technician Training Program or equivalent (Preferred)
  • Less than 1 year Prior Pharmacy Technician experience (Preferred)
Skills and Abilities:
  • Medical terminology
  • Prescription drug and over-the-counter knowledge
  • Basic math skills, including pharmaceutical calculations
  • Pharmacy law and regulation
  • Basic pharmacy workflow
  • Pharmacy automation
  • Pharmacy computer systems
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize
  • Excellent customer service skills
Licenses and Certifications:
  • Registered Pharmacy Technician - Virginia Department of Health Professions (VDHP) Upon Hire (Required)
  • Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) - Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) PTCB or ExCPT Certification within 1 Year (Required)
