SUMMARY

A Clinical Support Specialist plays a vital role in assisting with patient assessments and treatments under the supervision of a licensed healthcare provider. This position involves a variety of clinical and administrative tasks aimed at ensuring efficient patient care and support.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Prepare patients for evaluations by healthcare providers, including taking vital signs and documenting information in electronic health records.
  • Ensure examination rooms are ready for patient visits and facilitate smooth patient flow.
  • Assist healthcare providers during patient evaluations and treatments as directed.
  • Conduct various clinical procedures, including administering immunizations and performing laboratory tests.
  • Administer medications via injection as directed by the supervising healthcare provider.
  • Perform point-of-care testing such as EKGs and other diagnostic tests within the scope of practice.
  • Maintain accurate and thorough documentation in patient records regarding medical history and treatment plans.
  • Restock medical supplies and maintain inventory, ensuring compliance with safety protocols.
  • Support patient admissions and discharges, ensuring a seamless process.
  • Train designated staff in taking vital signs and preparing patients for evaluations.
  • Handle phone communications and perform clerical tasks as assigned by management.
  • Ensure cleanliness and organization of treatment areas and common spaces.
  • Coordinate patient care by managing referrals and following up on diagnostic orders.
  • Communicate effectively with diverse patient populations, ensuring understanding and support.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of clinical practices and protocols.
  • Adhere to established guidelines for patient management and care coordination.
  • Maintain current CPR certifications.
  • Perform additional duties as required.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Must possess a Certificate in Medical Assisting from an accredited institution and have relevant experience in a healthcare environment. A current BCLS/CPR certification is required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Bilingual proficiency in Spanish is highly desirable.

SUPERVISORY ROLE

This position does not include supervisory responsibilities.
