Environmental Specialist Job Description

LHH Recruitment Solutions is seeking an Environmental Specialist to join their client's team in the Greater Saginaw-Midland-Bay City area. This role will play a critical part in ensuring the company adheres to all relevant environmental regulations and standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Wastewater Management: Monitor and evaluate wastewater treatment processes to guarantee compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Collect, analyze, and report on wastewater samples, ensuring all discharge meets permit requirements.
  • Implement and oversee wastewater treatment improvement projects to enhance efficiency and reduce environmental impact.
  • Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to develop and optimize wastewater treatment systems.
  • Air Quality Control: Monitor and assess air emissions from company facilities, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations.
  • Conduct regular air quality sampling and analysis, maintaining detailed records of all findings.
  • Develop and implement air quality management plans to minimize emissions and improve overall air quality.
  • Work with internal teams to identify and mitigate sources of air pollution within the company.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Stay up-to-date on changes in environmental regulations related to wastewater and air quality.
  • Prepare and submit required environmental reports to regulatory agencies in a timely manner.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for environmental inspections and audits related to wastewater and air quality.
  • Ensure all operations are conducted in accordance with permits and environmental standards.
  • Environmental Impact Assessment: Conduct environmental impact assessments for new projects or changes in operations that may affect wastewater or air quality.
  • Provide recommendations for minimizing environmental impact and enhancing sustainability.
  • Training and Awareness: Develop and deliver training programs for staff on best practices in wastewater management and air quality control.
  • Promote environmental awareness and responsibility across the organization.

Qualifications:

  • Associates degree in Environmental Science, Biology, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2+ years of experience in environmental management, with a focus on wastewater and air quality.
  • In-depth knowledge of federal, state, and local environmental regulations, particularly related to wastewater treatment and air quality control.
  • Experience with environmental sampling and analysis techniques.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Proficiency in using environmental monitoring software and tools.
  • Certifications such as Certified Environmental Professional (CEP) or similar are an asset.
