Job Title: Agriculture Technician

Join the University of Maryland Eastern Shore's Department of Agriculture, Food and Resource Sciences as an Agriculture Technician. This part-time, non-exempt position is grant-funded and offers a unique opportunity to work in urban forestry.

Responsibilities:
  • Assist with maintaining a seedling grow-out station, including setup and maintenance of hoop houses, potting seedlings, and irrigation.
  • Install and maintain arboretum projects such as signage, pathways, and plantings.
  • Provide assistance with UMES and community tree plantings.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements:
  • High School diploma or GED
  • Three years in agricultural work, one year of which was in agricultural research
  • Computer: Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite
  • Driving: Valid driver's license with clean driving record
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Ability and willingness to work flexible schedules
  • Ability to safely lift objects in excess of 50 pounds and work within safety standards
  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
