Job Title: Special Education Teacher

APR Consulting, Inc. is seeking a qualified Special Education Teacher to join our team. As a Special Education Teacher, you will be responsible for instructing and directing the activities of students in assigned classes to provide a well-organized and smoothly functioning classroom environment.

Job Summary:

This is a contract position with APR Consulting, Inc. The Special Education Teacher will work with students who require specialized instruction and support. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree and a SC teaching license with SPED endorsement.

Responsibilities:
  • Meet and instruct assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated.
  • Plan a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students.
  • Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.
  • Prepare for classes assigned and show written evidence of preparation upon request of immediate superior.
  • Encourage students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior.
  • Guide the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects.
  • Employ a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media consistent with the physical limitations of the location provided and the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved.
  • Assess the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provide progress reports as required.
  • Diagnose the learning disabilities of students on a regular basis and seek the assistance of district specialists as required.
  • Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
  • Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation.
  • Assist the administration in implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conduct.
  • Develop reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedures and maintain order in the classroom in a fair and just manner.
  • Make provisions for being available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day when required or requested under reasonable terms.
  • Plan and supervise purposeful assignments for teacher aide(s) and volunteer(s) and evaluate their job performance cooperatively with department heads.
  • Strive to maintain and improve professional competence.
  • Attend staff meetings and serve on staff committees as required.
  • Perform related duties as required.
Qualifications:
  • Requires Bachelor's degree.
  • SC teaching license with SPED endorsement or have already applied.
