About the Job:

The Virginia Department of Juvenile Justice is seeking a skilled Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist to join our team. As a Psychiatrist for Juvenile Justice, you will provide psychiatric services and supervise mental healthcare providers within our organization. Your responsibilities will include providing diagnostic evaluations, medication management, and individual/group/family therapy as appropriate. You will also work with interdisciplinary treatment team members to develop and implement treatment plans for assigned patients. Additionally, you will use feedback from staff and residents to determine the necessity for adjustment to the treatment plan and work with treatment team members to effectively reduce the use of seclusion and restraint.

Responsibilities:

Provide psychiatric services and supervise mental healthcare providers within the Virginia Department of Juvenile Justice organization
Provide Mental Health and Psychiatric Care
Conduct diagnostic evaluations, medication management, and individual/group/family therapy as appropriate
Work with interdisciplinary treatment team members to develop and implement treatment plans for assigned patients
Use feedback from staff and residents to determine the necessity for adjustment to the treatment plan
Work with treatment team members to effectively reduce the use of seclusion and restraint

Requirements:

Comprehensive knowledge of current psychiatric practice and trends related to child and adolescent psychiatry
Ability to provide psychiatric care to DJJ youth that meets community standards
Ability to supervise and manage the clinical practice of physician extenders providing mental healthcare
License from the Virginia State Board of Medicine
Current DEA license with no restrictions
Completion of an approved residency in general psychiatry and completion of a fellowship in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry
Board-certified or board-eligible in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry
