About the Role:

The Concrete Finisher is a key member of our team at APX Construction Group LLC, responsible for ensuring the highest quality finishing techniques on each project. This role requires a strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Project Execution: Complete day-to-day concrete field operations for the project, meeting management and customer objectives for safety, quality, and schedule.
  2. Tool Operation: Safely and efficiently operate hand and power tools of all types, ensuring that equipment is in good working order.
  3. Finishing Work: Complete finishing work with a high degree of skill and professionalism, ensuring that the requirements of the project are met.
  4. Quality Control: Monitor how the wind, heat, or cold, affect concrete throughout the entire process.
  5. Team Collaboration: Follow directions, schedules, and requirements from Project Foreman or Superintendent.
  6. Concrete Placement: Spread, level, and smooth concrete using rake, shovel, hand or power trowel, hand or power screed, and float according to grade and depth of specification.
  7. Jointing and Edging: Mold expansion joints and edges using edging tools, jointers, straightedge, and wet cutter and saws to help control cracking.
  8. Concrete Forming: Form, place, and finish all types of concrete to the desired finished product required by plans and specifications.

Essential Areas of Responsibility:

  1. Safety and Compliance: Adhere to all Company safety policies, OSHA policies, and other applicable safety standards.
  2. Resource Management: Responsible for efficient utilization of labor, equipment, materials, and other resources.
  3. Professional Representation: Represent Company in a professional and positive manner at all times during working hours and on job-sites.
  4. Communication: Proactively communicate with team on all matters that impact project quality, safety, resource utilization, and project stages/timelines.

Requirements:

  • Experience: 5+ years of experience in concrete finishing for both residential and commercial projects.
  • Performance Management: Able to manage performance with a high degree of competency in concrete finishing.
  • Knowledge and Skills: Strong knowledge of current construction means, methods, and procedures and be able to direct others to perform to these standards.
  • Documentation: Must be able to read and interpret plans, specifications, and shop drawings.
  • Travel: Ability to travel to job sites as required.
  • Driver's License: Valid Driver's License.
  • Personal Accountability: Personal accountability and responsibility with excellent follow-through.
  • Attitude and Adaptability: Positive attitude, collaborative, and adept at every changing priority.

Physical Demands:

  • Lifting and Carrying: Must be able to lift and carry materials and equipment weighing up to fifty (50) pounds on a frequent basis.
  • Physical Activity: Must be able to stand, bend, stoop, and reach on a prolonged and continual basis.
  • Vision and Coordination: Must have good stamina, vision, eye-hand coordination, and ability to estimate size and dimensions.
  • Personal Protective Equipment: Must wear required PPE at all times and follow all safety requirements.
  • Work Environment: Must be able to climb stairs, work from heights on ladders or scaffolding, and move throughout the jobsite.
  • Tool Operation: Must be able to efficiently and effectively operate manual and electrically powered tools, sprayers, and construction-related equipment utilizing full range of physical motion.

  • Problem-Solving: Ability to simultaneously address multiple complex priorities and problems.
  • High-Pressure Situations: Work under high pressure and safety-sensitive situations in a positive and collaborative manner.
  • Independent Judgment: Ability to exercise independent judgment and make decisions related to the finishing process and timing.

Working Conditions:

  • Time and Attendance: Adheres to the time and attendance requirements as established by the Project Foreman or Superintendent.
  • Outdoor Conditions: Outdoor conditions vary depending on weather and season, this position works year-round.
  • Job Site Conditions: Various job sites with varying conditions from inside to outdoors in areas that are dusty, dirty, or noisy, or which could have work hazards.
