Business Education Adjunct Instructor

The Business Essentials Unit within the School of Business at the Commonwealth of Virginia is seeking to establish a pool of candidates for adjunct faculty roles for the upcoming academic year.

Should funding for these adjunct teaching roles become available, the Undergraduate Studies Office will reach out to individuals in the pool whose qualifications align with our instructional requirements.

This pool will be utilized only when a vacancy occurs.

After the specified period, candidates will need to reapply to the updated posting to maintain their status in the adjunct pool.

Please note that we are unable to hire applicants who are not currently in the pool.

We are looking for candidates for the adjunct instructor pool to teach in-person, hybrid, and/or online sections of BUSN 201: Foundations of Business and/or BUSN 205: Introduction to the World of Business.

BUSN 201 is a mandatory course for sophomore business majors.

BUSN 205 serves as a general education course appropriate for freshmen or sophomores and is accessible to all students at the university.

Responsibilities:

  • As an Adjunct Instructor in the Business Essentials Unit, you will contribute to the strategic objectives of the School of Business, emphasizing innovation in the curriculum.
  • Instructors are expected to maintain regular online office hours.
Required Qualifications:

  • A Master's degree in Business or a related discipline
  • Prior teaching experience in higher education
  • A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in business
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven experience or interest in teaching and engaging with diverse populations
Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated excellence in teaching high-enrollment courses in higher education
  • Familiarity with Canvas or other Learning Management Systems
  • International business experience for candidates applying for BUSN 205
