Ziegler CAT is seeking a full-time, skilled Service Technician to deliver preventative maintenance solutions for our clients' machinery in the field. We are in search of a committed individual with strong diagnostic and troubleshooting abilities to provide exceptional service to our expanding customer base.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Travel to perform routine maintenance on Ziegler's machinery in the local area.
  • Address customer inquiries positively and promptly to maximize the value of services rendered; a company vehicle will be provided.
  • Utilize independent judgment to ensure the safe upkeep and repair of a diverse range of complex machinery and tools, encompassing mechanical, hydraulic, gas, diesel, and electrical systems at branch or client sites.
  • Maintain a tidy and secure work environment, comply with all safety protocols; keep the service vehicle clean and well-maintained.
  • Engage positively with management and team members to meet customer expectations.
  • Assist colleagues at all technician levels with troubleshooting and repairs as necessary.
  • Update supervisors on job status and communicate job completion to receive subsequent assignments.
  • Keep accurate records of work performed (work orders) in a timely manner on a daily/job basis.
  • Document labor and additional segments to ensure work orders can be closed and billed as agreed with the customer.
  • Be available for after-hours emergency calls as directed by management.
  • Identify and communicate the need for parts for inventory management.
  • Perform other assigned duties as required.
Qualifications:
  • 2-year technical degree or high school diploma with several years of relevant mechanical experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in diesel equipment repair, with field experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with hydraulic systems, transmissions, undercarriage, track systems, components, electrical, and fuel systems.
  • Experience with CAT machinery is advantageous but not mandatory.
  • Ability to independently diagnose all equipment issues; proficient in reading, understanding, and communicating schematics.
  • Personal attributes: Commitment to delivering outstanding customer service, meticulous attention to detail, strong problem-solving skills, and effective written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Capability to maintain a safe and organized work environment.
  • Willingness to respond to after-hours emergency calls as directed by management.
  • Basic computer proficiency.
  • Possession of a personal mechanic tool set.
  • Must maintain a clean driving record.
  • Class A CDL or willingness to obtain one within a specified timeframe.
  • Obtain a DOT medical certification card.
  • Pass a DOT pre-employment drug screening and physical examination.
  • Able to operate equipment safely.
  • This position is classified as safety-sensitive and will require a drug test as a pre-employment condition.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to push/pull up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to lift/carry up to 60 lbs.
  • Capability to lift bulky items.
  • Physical activities include standing, walking, using hands, talking, hearing, neck rotation, trunk rotation, climbing stairs and ladders, repetitive bending, kneeling, sustained squatting, reaching overhead, crawling, and handling tools.
  • Work conditions may vary between indoor and outdoor environments, with potential exposure to loud noise levels.
