JOB SUMMARY

The Sanitation Specialist is responsible for executing designated cleaning tasks pertinent to the assigned work environment. This encompasses comprehensive cleaning duties including restrooms, offices, dining areas, sales floors, and other areas as designated. Responsibilities also include buffing, scrubbing, and the ability to perform fundamental cleaning operations such as vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, and utilizing equipment like scrubbers, extractors, and buffers.

EXPECTATIONS FOR SATISFACTORY JOB PERFORMANCE

  • Completes all required cleaning tasks as instructed by the Lead Custodian or Crew Lead Supervisor.
  • Operates floor machines for buffing, stripping, waxing, vacuuming, and carpet cleaning safely, adhering to established schedules.
  • Follows all safety protocols, company policies, and management directives.
  • Adheres to company standards regarding safety, customer service, appropriate attire, and working conditions.
  • Meets assignment expectations as per company schedules and customer requirements.
  • Maintains uniform compliance at designated worksites.
  • Conducts janitorial tasks as per the defined scope of work and customer requests, following published schedules and guidelines. Common tasks include:
    • Emptying wastebaskets and replacing liners as necessary.
    • Dusting and cleaning surfaces of office furniture, desks, and tables.
    • Vacuuming all carpeted areas.
    • Spot cleaning soiled areas as required.
    • Cleaning and sanitizing toilets, sinks, and urinals.
    • Wiping down counters, mirrors, and fixtures.
    • Sweeping and damp mopping floors with disinfectant.
    • Spot cleaning walls, partitions, and doors.
    • Refilling restroom dispensers as needed.
    • Cleaning table tops and chairs.
    • Wiping down vending machines and appliances.
    • Cleaning sinks and damp mopping tiled floors.
  • This position may require working nights, early mornings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Follows both verbal and written instructions.
  • Collaborates effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Participates in periodic training and safety meetings.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Ability to read and communicate effectively in English.
  • Physical capability to manually move, lift, carry, pull, or push heavy objects or materials up to 50 pounds.
  • Engages in repetitive motions daily, including bending, twisting, pushing, pulling, reaching, climbing, and squatting.
  • Proficient in operating small power tools.
  • Requires flexibility to stoop, kneel, crawl, bend, turn, and reach in areas that may not be fully air-conditioned.
  • Capable of standing and walking for extended periods, including climbing and descending stairs and ladders.
  • Ability to work independently and thrive in high-pressure environments.
  • Consistent and reliable attendance is essential.
  • May involve local travel using a personal vehicle, approximately 10% of the time, varying throughout the month.
  • May require access to customer facilities that necessitate background screening.
EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATIONS

Preferred qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent, along with 1–2 years of experience in custodial, janitorial, or cleaning services.
