Position Overview:

The Faculty member in Primary Care will engage in educational, research, service, and clinical practice duties within the College of Osteopathic Medicine (COM). Reporting to the Department Chair, this role involves collaboration with colleagues to develop and implement curricula that foster integration of medical specialties in both large and small group learning environments, alongside physical examination and clinical instruction.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver and prepare course content across the four-year Doctor of Osteopathy curriculum, which may include classroom teaching, laboratory instruction, simulation activities, and online education.
  • Engage in research or scholarly endeavors.
  • Contribute to COM or University service.
  • Participate in clinical practice within Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHC) for 1-2 days weekly.
  • Create and develop course syllabi.
  • Actively engage in curriculum and assessment development to promote student success.
  • Provide academic advisement and maintain office hours for student support.
  • Participate in admissions activities.
  • Engage in ongoing research and professional development.
  • Contribute to patient-centered, team-based clinical care as part of the institution's commitment to community well-being.
  • Participate in ceremonial events such as Commencement and White Coat ceremonies.
  • Understand and adhere to accreditation standards and departmental policies.
Qualifications:
  • Possession of a professional degree (DO, MD) from an accredited institution.
  • Completion of a residency in Primary Care (Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Pediatrics), Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine, or Preventive Medicine, with current board eligibility or certification.
  • Candidates with subspecialty training and board certification will also be considered.
  • Eligibility for licensure in Missouri and Kansas.
  • Eligibility for BNDD/DEA certification.
  • Eligibility for a hospital appointment.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Commitment to serving underserved populations.
  • Previous teaching experience in an academic environment.
  • Familiarity with instructional technologies.
  • Experience in curricular design and educational theory.
  • Innovative teaching methods and willingness to apply learning sciences in medical education, including team-based learning and simulation-based instruction.
