Job Overview

At Walter L. Shepeard Community Blood Center, we are committed to saving lives through blood donation. Our team is dedicated to providing a safe and efficient blood collection experience for donors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Blood Collection: Perform venipuncture, mini-physical examinations, and post-donation care to ensure a pleasant experience for donors.
  • Equipment Management: Load, transport, set up, and dismantle equipment and supplies for blood collection.
  • Vehicle Maintenance: Maintain the bloodmobile and truck to ensure they are in good working condition.
  • Documentation: Complete necessary logs and reports, including the Vehicle Inspection Report (VIR) and Driver's Daily Log (DDL).
  • Quality Control: Maintain accurate manual and computer files on quality control and blood collections.
  • Public Relations: Promote positive relations with donors, sponsors, and the community.
Qualifications
  • Education: High School diploma or equivalent; completion of an approved phlebotomy course.
  • Experience: 3-6 months of experience driving vehicles over 26,001 pounds; clinical experience in phlebotomy.
  • Skills: Basic mechanical and clerical skills; ability to stand for prolonged periods and lift at least 50 pounds.
  • Licenses/Certifications: Valid Class A or B CDL driver's license with a passenger endorsement; clean driving record.
