Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Linux Systems Engineer to join our team at Diversity Resource Staffing Inc. As a key member of our Systems Engineering team, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining high-performance Linux environments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and implement server solutions to meet business needs
  • Tune and optimize systems infrastructure for maximum availability and performance
  • Automate manual tasks using scripting and application development
  • Investigate and adopt new technologies and tools as needed
  • Respond to and assist in production operations in a 24/7 environment
  • Evaluate, test, and integrate new operating system versions, drivers, and patches
  • Provide technical analysis, resolve problems, and propose solutions
  • Collaborate with developers, operations staff, release engineers, and end-users to ensure seamless system operation
  • Educate and mentor team members and operations staff
  • Participate in a weekly on-call rotation for after-hours support
Requirements
  • 5+ years of experience with the Linux Operating System (RedHat variants preferred)
  • Fluent speaking, reading, and writing in English
  • Solid experience coding with any combination of Perl, Ruby, Bash, PowerShell, Python, Java, API's, and others
  • Demonstrable knowledge of multi-tiered, highly available, and resilient application design
  • Knowledge of horizontal and vertical scaling for performance and high availability
  • Advanced Linux administration and engineering including, but not limited to, kernel tuning, performance testing, and benchmarking
  • Top-tier analytics and problem solving
  • Ability to work in a service-oriented team environment
  • Project Management, organization, and time management
  • Customer focused, and dedicated to the best possible user experience
  • Effective communication with both technical and business resources
Desired Qualifications
  • Degree in engineering discipline or equivalent experience in Systems Engineering
  • Exposure to and familiarity with Kafka, Cloudera, Hadoop, or similar
  • Exposure to AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, or other container technologies
  • Experience with automation/configuration management using either Puppet, Chef, Ansible or an equivalent
  • Familiarity with git, foreman, Jenkins, or equivalent
Work Environment

This role offers work from home flexibility of up to 2 days per week.
