About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Technical Revenue Accounting Leader to join our team at OpenAI. As a key member of our Revenue team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and compliance of our revenue processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee revenue recognition for contractual agreements, ensuring alignment with ASC 606 and other relevant standards.
  • Lead documentation of revenue transactions, applying advanced knowledge of US GAAP to ensure accurate identification of performance obligations and determination of transaction prices.
  • Lead revenue-related financial statement preparation and review, driving the revenue reporting process and coordinating with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including FP&A, tax, legal, go-to-market, and product, to provide strategic accounting guidance on customer contracts and business initiatives.
  • Streamline deal desk operations, building scalable processes and implementing systems and tooling to enable a risk-based approach for contract review.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree with 10+ years of progressive experience in technical revenue accounting roles, including substantial experience with SaaS revenue recognition under ASC 606.
  • CPA or equivalent, with a deep understanding of US GAAP, particularly in complex accounting areas.
  • Proven ability to diagnose and resolve complex accounting issues effectively and efficiently.
  • Strong communication skills, demonstrating the ability to explain complex accounting topics to non-accounting stakeholders.
  • Experience working with Netsuite, Salesforce, CPQ tools, and Workiva.
  • Strong analytical skills and experience in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
