Pediatric Registered Nurse Job Description

At Elizabeth Seton Childrens, we are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Pediatric Registered Nurse to join our team. As a Pediatric Registered Nurse, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care to our young patients.

Responsibilities:
  • Assess, plan, and evaluate nursing care for pediatric patients, including restorative care.
  • Implement and evaluate the nursing process, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Administer medications and treatments as ordered by physicians.
  • Confer with physicians and other healthcare team members to coordinate patient care.
  • Assist with physical examinations and treatments as needed.
  • Evaluate the effects of prescribed treatments and report to the healthcare team.
  • Implement the plan of care outlined in the resident's Interdisciplinary Care Plan.
  • Participate in completing the Minimum Data Set (MDS) and revising the care plan as the resident's condition changes.
  • Assume the role of nurse in charge of a unit for the shift as assigned.
  • Educate residents and families about their treatment plan.
  • Document interventions and teaching outcomes accurately and timely.
  • Maintain a safe and therapeutic resident care environment.
  • Direct and supervise CNAs, unit clerks, LPNs, and other RNs when in charge.
  • Establish effective working relationships with staff, residents, and family members.
  • Ensure that the Center and Department of Nursing policies and procedures are followed in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of care.
  • Review medication administration records for completeness at the end of the shift.
  • Give and receive the nursing report and follow through on any special instructions.
  • When in charge, make periodic checks to ensure that prescribed treatments are being properly administered by LPNs and CNAs and to evaluate the resident's physical and emotional status.
  • Participate in the orientation of new staff, residents, and families to the unit.
  • Carry out restorative and rehabilitative programs, including teaching residents to wash, feed, and dress themselves as appropriate.
  • Ensure that the facility policy on the use of restraints is followed and that documentation is timely and accurate.
  • Ensure that the unit is kept clean and free from clutter, and that the supply room door is kept locked.
  • Follow infection control standards and ensure that assigned personnel do likewise.
  • Keep abreast of new nursing policies and procedures.
  • Keep nurses' notes, plan of care, and all other documentation pertaining to your assigned resident timely, accurate, and complete.
  • Carry out end-of-shift responsibilities, including ensuring that supplies are available for the next shift, the unit is clean and tidy, and all documentation is complete and accurate.
Qualifications:
  • Graduate of an accredited RN program.
  • NYS RN License.
  • NYS RN Registration Certificate.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in nursing preferred.
  • Current BCLS certification.
Experience:
  • One (1) year of clinical experience in a pediatric and/or adolescent chronic/rehabilitative care facility preferred.

Salary Range: $93,625.00/Yr. to $117,675.00/Yr. (Day Shift), $106,625.00/Yr. to $130,675.00/Yr. (Night Shift). Both Day and Night Shifts Available.
