About Us
At Charm Industrial, we're on a mission to return the atmosphere to 280 ppm CO2. Our innovative approach involves converting excess inedible biomass into carbon-rich bio-oil and injecting it into underground storage for permanent carbon removal. This path allows us to create fossil-free iron at scale.
We began our carbon removal journey in 2020 with initial purchases from customers like Stripe, Shopify & Microsoft. Since then, we've grown to thousands of tons of carbon removal , over a hundred employees, and now have three locations in San Francisco, Colorado, and Kansas. We're looking for a talented Geostrategy Specialist to join our team in 2024 as we strive to become one of the first companies to put 10,000 tons of carbon back underground.
We value psychological safety and collaboration within our team of ambitious, creative, and forward-thinking individuals. We take calculated risks and learn from our mistakes. Our diverse backgrounds and perspectives shape our work, and we encourage you to read our company values .
Come help us reverse climate change. Gigatons or bust
As Charm's operations continue to grow, we're seeking a Geologist to collaborate with existing subsurface teammates to identify prospective injection wells in new geographies. You'll work together to scour public and private data sources for abandoned or idled assets that could be converted for bio-oil injection. Your role reports to our Director of Land Strategy, sits on the operations team, and is responsible for delivering permitted injection assets to our field operations teammates.
- Work with teammates in operations and local technical consultants to screen injection assets and estimate capacity, geologic suitability, safety, and regulatory requirements.
- Set objectives, organize data collection, and evaluate success of baseline injectivity tests and data collection. Evaluate reservoir quality and prepare permit packages based on results.
- Interpret and integrate a comprehensive suite of technical data and construct subsurface maps (structural, thickness, and other reservoir properties, pressure, etc.).
- Compile and interpret geologic and geophysical data from well operations.
- Deep experience in petroleum geology, geophysics, and/or related disciplines in multiple basins.
- Experience planning and implementing a secondary development or water disposal project from candidate selection through injection operations.
- Comfort navigating public data sources and working with regulatory agencies across multiple jurisdictions.
- Experience building or interpreting geologic models to determine storage capacity and containment.
- Experience with well testing, including test design and execution in order to translate results into actionable objectives.
- Familiarity with aspects of drilling, completing, and reworking well operations.
- Demonstrated understanding of petrophysics and formation evaluation as they relate to fluid flow and reservoir confinement.
