Job Summary

The Commonwealth of Virginia is seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual to fill the position of High School Outreach and Engagement Coordinator. This role is part of the Talent Search Grant and is responsible for assisting students in reaching their educational and career goals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement curriculum-approved workshops in schools and virtually to enhance students' understanding of different professional fields.
  • Recruit participants for project services and maintain participant files on services provided.
  • Collaborate with target school contacts and community to promote educational and career opportunities.
  • Provide support and guidance to students in overcoming barriers to education and career advancement.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in education, counseling, psychology, social work, or higher education.
  • Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to work with low-income potential first-generation college students.
  • Professional/personal experience in overcoming barriers similar to those confronting project participants.
  • Knowledge and/or advocacy experience with disadvantaged communities.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous Talent Search or TRiO experience.
  • Higher Education experience.
