Job Title: Computer Specialist (Software)

The City of New York is seeking a highly skilled Computer Specialist (Software) to join our team. As a key member of our Information Technology Services (ITS) organization, you will play a critical role in designing, developing, and maintaining complex applications that support our Homecare program.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop complex applications using object-oriented languages such as ASP.NET, C#.Net, and SQL databases.
  • Communicate with users and stakeholders to specify objectives for new systems and participate in ongoing maintenance and support for multiple systems.
  • Provide technical consultation and expertise by presenting detailed technical recommendations and supporting the rewrite of older applications into web-based applications.
Requirements:
  • A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college, including or supplemented by twenty-four semester credits in computer science or a related computer field.
  • Two years of satisfactory full-time software experience in designing, programming, debugging, maintaining, implementing, and enhancing computer software applications.
  • One year of experience in a project leader capacity or as a major contributor on a complex project.
Preferred Skills:
  • Familiarity with ASP.NET, AngularJS, jQuery, Web API, Web Services, XML, XSL, XSLT & SOAP, JSON, C#, REACT.
  • Functional knowledge of HTML5, JavaScript, and object-oriented coding methodologies.
  • Hands-on web-based application development experience using MVC.
  • Solid knowledge of Microsoft .Net Core and SQL Server SSIS Package.
  • Demonstrated understanding of different software development lifecycle methodologies.
  • Hands-on experience with relational SQL Server database design and implementation.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Reporting Services.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
