Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Occupational Therapist to join our team at the Detroit Medical Center. As a key member of our rehabilitation team, you will be responsible for evaluating and treating patients with motor and neurological disorders.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Evaluate patients' motor and neurological capabilities and document findings.
  • Develop and implement occupational therapy programs to enhance patients' motor, sensory, cognitive, and interpersonal skills.
  • Work with attending physicians to establish patient therapy goals and develop treatment plans.
  • Provide individual and group therapy sessions, selecting from a variety of occupational therapy modalities.
  • Document patient treatments, initial evaluations, progress notes, and discharge summaries in accordance with established departmental and service line policies and protocols.
  • Attend interdisciplinary team conferences and meetings to consult with other team members regarding patient treatment and program development.
  • Oversee, instruct, and evaluate occupational therapy assistants, aides, students, and volunteers as assigned.
  • Co-sign notes written by occupational therapy assistants, aides, or students.
  • Maintain professional expertise through workshops, lectures, in-services, conferences, and other educational activities.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Occupational Therapy.
  • One year of experience in a clinical setting preferred.
  • Current license to practice as an Occupational Therapist in the State of Michigan.
  • Initial certification or eligibility for certification with the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT).
