Overview:
The proficient Nurse, within the Medsurg or Telemetry clinical environment, operates autonomously and showcases an understanding of all pertinent elements of a scenario. Delivers both routine and intricate care, in alignment with patient treatment protocols. Continues to enhance the capability to manage and adapt to the complexities of clinical nursing. Appropriately assigns tasks and delegates responsibilities to other care providers to effectively manage the clinical setting.
CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Hospital - New Braunfels (CSRH-NB) is a comprehensive, 94-private bed facility located in a vibrant area, continuously evolving to address the demands of a growing community. The facility employs cutting-edge equipment and methodologies, featuring an Outpatient Imaging Center, orthopedic and surgical services, rehabilitation, a modernized birthing center with 24/7 neonatal support, emergency services, a wound care/hyperbaric center, 3D mammography, and extensive cardiac care, from diagnostics to open-heart surgery.
Key Responsibilities:

• In accordance with the ANA Scope and Standards of Practice, delivers nursing care utilizing the nursing process, which includes assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation for assigned patients.
• Addresses increasingly complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families in line with their level of practice.
• Administers medications and treatments following the appropriate protocols; monitors for side effects and the effectiveness of prescribed treatments.
• Documents patient history, symptoms, medications, and care provided.
• Assesses educational needs and provides instruction to patients, family members, and/or caregivers; identifies issues and resources.

• Must be able to perform unit-specific competencies based on the specific patient care requirements for the designated unit's patient population.

Clinical Policies and Standards

Requirements:
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of combined experience required in Medsurg and Telemetry.
- 5 years of experience preferred.
- BLS certification required.
- ACLS certification within 30 days of hire required.
- RN License in the state of employment or compact required.
- PALS certification required within 30 days of hire.
- De-escalation training required within 30 days of hire.
