Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Assistant to join our Internal Medicine team. As a Medical Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our healthcare professionals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare patients for exams by obtaining vital signs, gathering and documenting health information, and updating patient records.
  • Perform laboratory procedures, such as strep tests and wound cultures, using aseptic technique and standard precautions.
  • Assist physicians and advanced practice clinicians with procedures, including pelvic exams and allergy testing.
  • Administer medications, under physician orders or medical group-approved standing orders, which may include immunizations, antibiotics, and topical agents.
  • Follow through with necessary procedure or test requests, pre-approved care algorithms, new appointment times, and referrals to other facilities or services.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, healthcare teams, and physicians to ensure smooth clinic flow and adjust as necessary.
  • Perform basic and advanced clinical support tasks or skills, such as phlebotomy, EKGs, and spirometry, under clinical supervision.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a related field.
  • Completion of an accredited or approved program in Medical Assistant or 2 years of verifiable full-time experience as a Medical Assistant within the last 5 years.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) within 45 days of hire.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to develop rapport and maintain positive relationships with patients, team members, and physicians.
  • Proficient computer skills, including keyboarding, navigation within a windows operating system, and use of electronic mail with exposure to electronic medical records systems.
Working Conditions

This role requires sitting, standing, walking, lifting, squatting, bending, twisting, crawling, kneeling, climbing, and reaching above shoulders throughout the workday. Ability to lift 35 pounds without assistance. Must have functional speech, vision, hearing, and touch with ability to use fine-hand manipulation skills. Will be exposed to mechanical, electrical, chemical, blood, and body fluids. Will be required to wear protective clothing and equipment as needed.
