Cargo Handler Job Description

Forward Air is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Cargo Handler to join our team in a fast-paced shipping and dock operation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Load and unload freight from 53 ft. commercial trailers in a safe and timely manner.
  • Operate handheld scanners to track and manage freight through our distribution network.
  • Accurately label boxes and prepare freight for shipment.
  • Safely load and unload trailers using equipment such as hand trucks, pallet jacks, and forklifts.
  • Verify documentation and condition of freight to ensure quality standards are met.
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment.

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong team player with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Flexibility to work weekends and overtime as needed.
  • Forklift and general freight handling knowledge is a plus.
  • Must be 18 or older.
