Literacy Instructor

We are seeking a highly qualified Literacy Instructor to join our Emerging Bilinguals Academy team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality instruction to students in grades 6-12, focusing on reading and writing skills.

The Literacy Instructor will work closely with the academy leader to develop and implement instructional strategies that cater to the needs of emerging bilinguals. The ideal candidate will have experience teaching phonics, LLI, or early writing instruction and a proven track record of effective instruction.

• Deliver instruction to classes of 25 students, focusing on reading and writing skills
• Develop intervention strategies for students who are not making adequate progress
• Support the data management and analysis process with the academy leader
• Maintain weekly attendance, classwork, and participation data in the online data collection platform
• Provide feedback and score exit tickets after each lesson, recording data in the online data platform
• Participate in weekly data reflection protocols to identify targeted interventions for individual students
• Compile Progress Report data in the fall and spring
• Create a welcoming homeroom community that incentivizes attendance
• Support students during community-building enrichment activities and academic work

• Experience with phonics, LLI, or early writing instruction
• Proven track record of effective instruction
• Experience teaching emerging bilinguals or early readers
• Ability to attend all dates throughout the year

• Stipend of $7,500
• Coaching, training, and curriculum provided, along with coaching support throughout the year
