Bus Attendant Specialist

We are seeking a Bus Attendant Specialist to join our team at Friendship Community Care. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of children. The Bus Attendant Specialist will be responsible for assisting children when entering and exiting the bus, maintaining order on the bus, and ensuring all children remain seated with seat belts fastened. The successful candidate will have a high school diploma or equivalent, preferably with one to three months of related experience and or training.
Responsibilities
- Assist children when entering/exiting the bus, as needed.
- Assist with taking children to and from their classrooms.
- Maintain order on the bus and ensure all children remain seated with seat belts fastened.
- Act as 'spotter' when the driver backs up the bus.
- Sit in the middle or back of the bus to monitor the children at all times.
- Walk the aisle at every designated stop to ensure the safety/security of all children is being maintained.
- Check the bus at the end of morning/afternoon routes to ensure no child remains on the bus.
- Turn in all documentation daily, including Transportation Roster, health checks, etc.
- Assist the bus driver with maintaining a bus binder that includes required documentation: seating chart, up-to-date client information, emergency procedures, and vehicle accident procedures/forms.
- Assist the bus driver to ensure up-to-date client information is in the bus binder when transporting children.
- Complete and submit monthly car seat inspections by the last working day of the month.
- Report any maintenance issues to appropriate staff immediately upon discovery.
- Respond to any medical emergency on the bus.
- Immediately report all transportation-related incidents to the supervisor.
- Attend scheduled staff meetings.
- Complete all required training in a timely manner.
- Follow FCC policies/procedures.
