Job Summary

As a Registered Nurse in our Medical Surgical Unit, you will provide high-quality patient care and services to patients and families. You will work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to deliver evidence-based care and promote positive patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide Nursing Care and Services: Deliver high-quality patient care and services to patients and families, including assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care.
  • Lead and Direct Nursing Staff: Supervise and direct licensed practical nurses (LPNs) and nursing assistive personnel to ensure effective and efficient patient care.
  • Delegate Nursing Tasks: Delegate nursing tasks to nursing assistive personnel and LPNs, ensuring that tasks are completed safely and effectively.
  • Administer Medications: Administer medications to patients, ensuring that medications are given safely and accurately.
  • Teach and Educate: Teach and educate LPNs and nursing assistive personnel on special tasks of nursing care, ensuring that they are competent to perform these tasks.
  • Verify Competency: Verify the competency of LPNs and nursing assistive personnel to perform special tasks of nursing care.
  • Function as Primary Nurse: Function as the primary nurse for patients, providing comprehensive and individualized care to meet their unique needs.
  • Serve as Resource Nurse: Serve as a resource nurse for the team, providing guidance and support to colleagues as needed.
  • Act as Preceptor: Act as a preceptor for new staff members, providing orientation and training to ensure a smooth transition into the role.
  • Takes Charge Duties: Take charge duties as assigned, ensuring that patient care is delivered safely and effectively.
Requirements
  • Education: Graduate from an accredited school of nursing.
  • License, Certification, Registration: Basic Life Support OR CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers, Registered Nurse License (Hawaii) required at hire.
  • Experience: One (1) year experience in area of specialty or completion of a formal course in area of specialty within a designated period of time after hire into the specialty.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience: Experience working with electronic medical records.
  • Education: Coursework in basic EKG.
