Position Overview:
The role involves utilizing assessment skills to initiate patient care protocols, delivering care in accordance with the Tennessee paramedic scope of practice and the established Vanderbilt paramedic standards. This position encompasses triage responsibilities both in the field and within the Emergency Department, ensuring effective communication to uphold safe and high-quality patient care during transport and handover processes.
Work Schedule: Flexible 12-hour shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Day Shift: 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM
- Night Shift: 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with healthcare team members to deliver direct patient care.
- Transport patients using various methods while providing advanced life support and critical care to individuals of all ages.
- Respond to emergency calls within Vanderbilt and at other designated events.
- Employ problem-solving techniques to independently address patient issues and coordinate with healthcare teams for effective solutions.
- Identify and resolve patient and unit challenges, ensuring follow-through on implemented solutions.
- Communicate patient information effectively to the healthcare team during handover.
Technical Skills Required:
- Patient Assessment and Stabilization: Demonstrates foundational proficiency in assessing and stabilizing patients in moderately complex situations.
- Medication Management: Capable of conducting thorough assessments of medication compliance and history, recognizing issues, and liaising with primary care providers.
- Critical Thinking: Exhibits clarity and precision in completing tasks and projects, showcasing disciplined thought processes.
- Airway Management: Possesses essential skills in airway management, working under guidance to achieve effective outcomes.
- Ventilator Management: Demonstrates proficiency in managing ventilators in practical applications.

Position Requirements:
- Certifications: Valid Driver's License (Tennessee), Emergency Medical Technician - Paramedic certification.
