We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Caregiver Specialist to join our team at Developmental Services, Inc. in Washington.
Estimated Salary: $40,000 - $60,000 per year
About the RoleThis full-time or part-time position involves working with individuals with intellectual disabilities, providing support and assistance to ensure their independence, self-direction, and inclusion in the community.
Main Responsibilities:
- Care and Support: Provide active care for designated clients, developing individualized approaches to meet their needs, including communication skills, daily living skills, socialization skills, and fine and gross motor skills.
- Client Engagement: Remain actively engaged with all clients, addressing medical and behavioral needs as required.
- Documentation: Document major activities and supports provided for clients in daily notes, ensuring professional accuracy and timeliness according to agency standards.
- Medication Administration: Responsibly pass or monitor medication administration based on client needs.
- Transportation: Drive or take clients to appointments, work, and other daily living activities.
- Safety and Environment: Create a safe environment for clients, planning and participating in community-based activities that promote a meaningful day.
- Age and Education: Must be at least 18 years old, with a high school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Experience: Previous experience working with clients with intellectual disabilities is an asset.
- Skills: Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong teamwork skills, and ability to obtain and maintain certifications in CPR, First Aid, CPI, and Med Core A & B.
- Qualifications: Capable of obtaining and maintaining a clear criminal record, valid Indiana driver's license, insurance on personal vehicle (minimum PLPD with Medical liability coverage), and reliable transportation.
