Job Summary

The CT Technologist Specialist is responsible for producing high-quality computed tomography (CT) scans of designated anatomical areas in accordance with established medical imaging practices and procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operates CT scanner equipment to produce radiographs of designated portions of the body
  • Positions patients utilizing immobilization devices to ensure accurate and safe scanning
  • Adjusts equipment controls to set exposure factors such as time and distance to optimize image quality
  • Explains procedures to patients and addresses their concerns to ensure a positive experience
  • Assists physicians with invasive procedures and exposes and develops film as needed
  • Monitors, records, and communicates patient information utilizing computerized documentation systems
  • Utilizes knowledge of age-specific needs of patients in performance of duties and responsibilities
  • Orients and mentors new staff members to ensure a smooth transition
  • Practices radiation protection techniques to minimize radiation to patients and staff
  • Provides a safe environment for administering contrast material and assists with transporting patients as needed
Requirements
  • One year of experience in radiology or MRI is preferred
  • Specific experience and training in CT scan is preferred
  • Graduation from an AMA-approved school of radiologic technology is required
  • Florida State License in Radiologic Technology is required
  • Current BLS certification is required
  • Knowledge and understanding of general anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology is required
  • ARRT certification in Radiology and CT is preferred
