Position Overview:
Spherion is looking for a dedicated Professional Civil Engineer specializing in roadway projects. This role is situated within the Transportation Engineering Division and emphasizes the pursuit of expertise as a technical authority and/or project manager in road development.

Key Responsibilities:
As a Professional Civil Engineer, your primary duties will encompass:
  • Providing engineering and technical assistance within the Transportation Department, focusing on project development, detailed design, cost estimation, and technical inspections for various roadway initiatives.
  • Utilizing engineering and CADD software to create and oversee designs for roadways, drainage systems, and other civil engineering projects.
  • Interpreting electronic surveys to integrate into project plans.
  • Managing all phases of design work from initial concept to final approval, ensuring efficient resource utilization and timely project delivery.
  • Reviewing roadway calculations, plan submissions, contractor proposals, and change orders to maintain project integrity.
  • Estimating project costs and negotiating engineering contracts while conducting quality assurance and quality control reviews of design activities.
  • Contributing to team efforts aimed at achieving departmental and organizational objectives.
  • Supporting proposal development and assisting in any necessary tasks to ensure high-quality deliverables within budget and on schedule.

Working Hours:
Monday to Thursday from 7:30 AM to 5:00 PM and Friday from 7:30 AM to 11:30 AM, with additional hours as required by project demands.

Compensation:
Annual salary ranges from $130,000 to $180,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will possess:
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited program; an advanced degree is a plus.
  • Registration as a Professional Civil Engineer in the relevant state.
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience post-licensure.
  • Proficiency in advanced engineering software and familiarity with Louisiana DOTD standards.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret complex technical instructions.
