Job Summary
This position involves performing a range of technical responsibilities to provide instructional assistance and support to educators and students within a designated science laboratory. Responsibilities include setting up, organizing, and overseeing the operation and maintenance of the lab, ensuring student safety during lab activities, instructing on proper lab procedures, and carrying out general administrative and lab maintenance tasks.
Key Responsibilities
• Execute various technical and administrative duties to assist educators and students in a science laboratory setting; support teachers and students with diverse lab activities and exercises; guide students in safe lab practices and equipment usage; research and contribute to the development of new lab activities and effective strategies for science instruction.
• Ensure student safety during lab sessions; manage the issuance and maintenance of equipment and supplies; prepare laboratories for instructional activities; provide safety gear and assistance during chemical incidents, ensuring appropriate cleanup; promote awareness and adherence to safe lab practices among students.
• Oversee the science lab budget; process purchase requests, invoices, and requisitions; manage received packages; submit for payment and distribution to staff.
Qualifications
• A combination of training, education, and experience demonstrating the knowledge and abilities necessary for the role.
• Education: High school graduation supplemented by college-level coursework in biology, chemistry, or a related field.
• Experience: At least one year of experience in an instructional laboratory environment.
• Certifications: Completion of a Lab Safety Course; valid First Aid and CPR certification from an authorized agency.
