About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Cybersecurity Systems Engineer to join our team at MITRE. As a key member of our Border Security department, you will play a critical role in improving our impact on U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform in-depth analyses of current and future communications and networking problems, leveraging modeling and simulation tools to derive actionable recommendations.
  • Engage with customers to formulate their needs and provide data-driven results to impact their technical missions.
  • Lead tasks involving systems engineering, analysis, modeling & simulation, prototyping, and experimentation.
  • Identify additional project opportunities to expand the technical work portfolio through sponsor and internal engagement.
Requirements
  • Minimum of 5 years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree in a STEM field, or 3 years and a Master's degree, or a PhD with relevant experience.
  • Technical expertise in one or more communication areas, including cellular (5G, LTE), satellite communications (SATCOM), mesh radios, land mobile radio (LMR), Wi-Fi, microwave, and millimeter wave communications.
  • Experience with system modeling and simulation tools, such as Ansys Systems Tool Kit (STK), MATLAB, Planet, Atoll, SpectrumE, SignalPro, Riverbed Modeler, ns-3, ExtendSim, QualNet, etc.
  • Active Secret clearance required, and ability to obtain Department of Homeland Security (DHS) fitness and/or component suitability.
Preferred Qualifications
  • An advanced degree in a STEM field.
  • Ability to program using C++ or similar language.
