Job Summary

As an Interventional Radiologic Technologist at Kaiser Permanente, you will play a critical role in performing routine and highly specialized diagnostic and therapeutic interventional radiology procedures on patients. Under general supervision, you will work closely with physicians to diagnose and treat pathologies, ensuring a smooth operational flow and maximum patient volume.

Key Responsibilities
  • Clinical Practice/Patient Care
    • Operate advanced imaging equipment and apply ionizing radiation to patients in accordance with standard operating procedures and departmental policies.
    • Position patients according to departmental procedures and provide for their comfort during procedures.
    • Perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, utilizing image-guided surgical procedures, sterile technique, and radiographic technique.
    • Operate laser imagers and radiographic/fluoroscopic equipment to obtain radiographic images and critique them for quality and accuracy.
  • Unit Management
    • Review requests daily for interventional procedures and assist in prioritizing for a smooth workflow.
    • Communicate effectively with patients, nurses, and physicians regarding information on angiography procedures requiring specialized patient preparation.
    • Act as a role model for radiologic technologists, promoting efficient workflow processes and maximum patient safety.
Requirements
  • Demonstrate a thorough understanding and working knowledge of normal anatomy, abnormal anatomy, and physiology, radiation safety, interventional supplies, and equipment operation.
  • Recognize and resolve equipment problems and discrepancies, anticipate patient needs and concerns, and determine the appropriate care needed.
  • Use professional judgment and critical thinking when performing procedures.
