Position Overview:

The Kitchen Operations Assistant plays a vital role in meal planning, preparation, and delivery through various programs, including Meals On Wheels and senior centers. This position may also serve as the primary delivery driver or act as a backup for the lead cook when necessary.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in meal planning, preparation, and distribution.
  • Step in as kitchen lead in the absence of the Lead Cook.
  • Serve as the primary meal delivery driver, adhering to agency vehicle operation requirements.
  • Deliver meals to participants using personal or agency vehicles.
  • Follow safety, health, and food handling policies and procedures.
  • Maintain cleanliness of kitchen utensils and equipment.
  • Sanitize kitchen and dining areas regularly.
  • Ensure proper storage and labeling of food items.
  • Support kitchen management and assist with inventory tracking.
  • Provide general office support, including answering phones and data entry.
  • Coordinate volunteer assistance for kitchen tasks and meal delivery.
  • Uphold confidentiality regarding program participants and staff.
  • Assist the Lead Cook and other staff as needed.
  • Responsible for vehicle maintenance and meal setup for Head Start programs.
  • Maintain regular attendance and punctuality.
  • Perform additional duties as required.

Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Valid driver's license and liability insurance.
  • Food Handler Certification.
  • CPR and First Aid certifications (Adult and Pediatric).

Skills and Abilities:
  • Proficient in word processing, spreadsheets, and database software.
  • Ability to operate kitchen equipment and follow recipes.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
  • Respect for confidentiality.
  • Ability to multitask and meet deadlines.

Working Environment:
  • Fast-paced setting with rapidly changing priorities.
  • May require working on weekends, evenings, and holidays.
