Position Summary:
We are in search of a Senior Mechanical Facilities Engineer to oversee the design of HVAC and Plumbing/Piping systems for a diverse range of critical and supportive projects. This position entails planning, executing, and coordinating intricate phases of design work, crafting construction specifications, and ensuring adherence to quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design HVAC and Plumbing/Piping systems, including calculations, process flow diagrams, and equipment layout along with associated duct and piping systems.
  • Develop mechanical construction and equipment specifications, test and inspection plans, and comprehensive system design descriptions.
  • Utilize standard techniques and procedures for less complex projects while adapting methods for more intricate assignments.
  • Conduct engineering quality assurance checks on project designs.
  • Support new project proposals with mechanical discipline scopes, budget estimates, and timelines.
  • Engage with and present designs to Federal, State, and Local government clients.
  • Lead a multi-disciplinary team, coordinating tasks and collaborating with engineers, designers, and administrative personnel.
  • Occasional travel to other offices or project sites, including international travel, may be necessary.
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET Accredited Program.
  • A minimum of 12 years of relevant experience.
  • PE License.
  • Willingness and ability to obtain a Department of Defense security clearance.
  • Experience in HVAC and plumbing/piping systems design and related engineering calculations (e.g., air-handling systems, laboratory fume hood exhaust air systems, duct systems, heating and chilled water hydronic piping systems, natural gas piping systems, domestic water and wastewater piping systems, steam and condensate piping systems, compressed air systems, and mechanical system controls).
  • Proficiency in sizing and selecting HVAC and plumbing/piping equipment (e.g., air-handling units, fans/blowers, pumps, cooling towers, chillers, boilers, coils, HEPA filtration systems, dampers, valves, and controls).
  • Skilled in editing and drafting mechanical construction and equipment specifications.
  • Experience with HVAC computer load and design programs such as Trane Trace software; familiarity with Revit building information modeling software; and knowledge of AutoCAD.
  • Working knowledge of ASHRAE, SMACNA, and NFPA standards.
  • Familiarity with IMC, IPC, and IBC codes.
Desired Qualifications:
  • Current passport.
  • Active Department of Defense (DoD) clearance.
  • LEED or Green Globes accreditation is a plus.
