Job SummaryThis Fabrication Specialist position is responsible for designing, welding, and fabricating new and existing equipment, parts, and tools. The ideal candidate will have proficiency in various types of welding, including MIG, TIG, and stick, as well as knowledge of oxy acetylene torch and plasma cutter.
Key Responsibilities- Maintenance and Repair: Maintain all welding and fabrication equipment and supplies, ensuring they are in good working condition.
- Equipment Fabrication: Build, create, and design equipment throughout the facility based on orders received, using welding and other fabrication equipment as needed.
- Quality Control: Maintain any testing requirements as set forth by your supervisor or company, keeping up to date with any training needed for this position.
- Teamwork: Participate as a member of the team, fostering strong cohesiveness regarding all major issues, and accepting responsibility to quickly identify any areas that lack cohesiveness.
- Operational Knowledge: Be familiar with Simmons' established operating systems, including quality, security, office environment, and company policies, and understand the responsibility to maintain familiarity with these systems.
- Physical Demands: Must work on feet the entire shift, with lifting, pushing, pulling, stooping, bending, and working in extreme heat or cold, and be able to lift, push, or pull up to 100 pounds.
- Personal Protective Equipment: Wear hearing protection, eye protection, and leather gloves.
- Technical Experience: Proficiency in various types of welding, knowledge of oxy acetylene torch and plasma cutter, and computer skills.
- Industry Experience: Preference for poultry or food processing organization.
- Education: Must have strong math skills, and a high school diploma or GED is preferred.
- Competencies: Communication skills, decision quality, and the ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines.
