About the Position:
As an MRI Technologist at Kaiser Permanente, you will be responsible for performing a variety of MRI procedures and departmental support functions. Under the supervision of the Radiology Supervisor, you will work with patients of all ages to ensure accurate and effective imaging results.
Key Responsibilities:
• Perform MRI examinations of the brain, body, spine, and extremities, adjusting scanning parameters as needed to enhance images.
• Identify gross pathology in the human body and adjust T1 and T2 scanning parameters to provide pertinent information for interpretation.
• Effectively use magnetic resonance and adjust parameters to minimize exposure to patients and yourself, following established protocols and using scanning techniques to include window and contrast levels, scanning time sequences, scanning delays, scanning thickness, FOV, scout images, reformatting, image reconstruct, and 3-D image reconstruct.
• Certify to start and remove IV lines for contrast studies, identify and respond to IV contrast reactions, and be proficient in the use of an IV Contrast Power Injector.
• Explain, know, and inform individuals entering the MR system room of the dangers associated with implants and devices, including pacemakers, implantable cardioverter defibrillators (ICDs), and loose objects.
• Review each examination for technical accuracy, present completed examinations to radiologists, and communicate pertinent data to persons responsible for the care of the patient following the procedure.
• Identify anatomical orientation on all required images and ensure proper film identification on all images.
• Maintain daily patient MRI logs documenting patient information to ensure the quality of patient care.
• Demonstrate the ability to organize patient care and set priorities by providing critical care first and implementing physicians' orders.
• Perform other duties as directed.
Basic Qualifications:
• Experience: Minimum one (1) year of experience to include on-the-job training and internships as an MRI technologist, OR registry eligible ARRT advanced certification in MRI required.
• Education: Graduate of an accredited radiology technology program or MRI Accredited Certificate Program required.
• License, Certification, Registration: American Registry of Radiologic Technologists Certificate - Magnetic Resonance Imaging within 12 months of hire OR American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists Certificate.
• Additional Requirements: Venipuncture competency check off required within 3 months of hire, ability to stand, push, pull, and lift patients, and ability to adjust routine to accommodate patient or department without affecting departmental flow.
