Job Summary:

UNC Health Care is seeking a skilled Nursing Assistant I to join our dynamic team in the Neurosurgery/ENT Acute Care Unit at UNC Medical Center in Chapel Hill, NC. As a Nursing Assistant I, you will provide routine direct and indirect patient care in a hospital setting, working under the direct supervision of a registered nurse or physician.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist physicians and other healthcare providers with routine examinations and procedures, as well as procurement of equipment and supplies during emergency situations.
  • Observe, collect, and document patient information obtained while providing care and promptly report significant changes in the patient's condition to a registered nurse or physician.
  • Provide assistance to patients and their families during admission to the clinical area, orientation to the hospital experience, and discharge.
  • Provide care/treatments to patients as outlined in the plan of care, including vital sign measurement, specimen collection, skin preps/scrubs, catheter care, and supportive patient interactions.
  • Provide direct personal care to patients as outlined in the plan of care for routine activities of daily living, such as bathing, dressing, feeding, and assisting with ambulation.
  • Provide indirect care to patients and assigned areas, including cleaning the work area, changing linens, re-stocking supplies, and transporting patients/supplies/specimens.

Requirements:

  • Listing as Nursing Assistant I with the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Prefer six (6) months of nursing assistant experience

Work Environment:

This is a 36 hours per week position, working 12-hour rotating shifts with some flexibility, and with weekend and holiday rotation. The position qualifies for an extensive benefit package, including PTO hours, which are accrued based on the number of worked hours.
