Job Title: Principal Data Engineer - Cloud

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Principal Data Engineer to join our Cloud Data Solutions team. This role will be responsible for designing, developing, and deploying cloud data solutions for risk, regulatory, finance, and compliance projects. The successful candidate will be at the forefront of our on-prem to cloud migration initiative and will lead and mentor junior team members.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with cloud solutions, specifically in Azure, and will possess strong knowledge of Python, Java, or similar high-level server-side languages. They will also have advanced working SQL knowledge on relational databases, preferably on MS SQL Server and databases on Azure cloud.

The Principal Data Engineer will work closely with business teams, product managers, and other stakeholders to understand business requirements, needs, or process gaps that would be addressed via proposed applications. They will engage with IT systems architects, database administrators, and cyber security teams to meet the back-end functionality demands of the application.

The successful candidate will participate in periodic development meetings to align development priorities and objectives, assign tasks, and share experiences and challenges with applications under development.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design, develop, and deploy cloud data solutions for risk, regulatory, finance, and compliance projects.
  • Lead and mentor junior team members.
  • Work closely with business teams, product managers, and other stakeholders to understand business requirements, needs, or process gaps.
  • Engage with IT systems architects, database administrators, and cyber security teams to meet the back-end functionality demands of the application.
  • Participate in periodic development meetings to align development priorities and objectives.
Requirements:
  • 12+ years of software development experience in enterprise applications, preferably in the financial services industry and on cloud data services.
  • Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science or information systems preferred.
  • Extensive experience with cloud solutions, specifically in Azure.
  • Strong knowledge of Python, Java, or similar high-level server-side languages.
  • Advanced working SQL knowledge on relational databases, preferably on MS SQL Server and databases on Azure cloud.
