Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive on-site evaluations of healthcare facilities to assess adherence to federal regulations.
  • Prepare for surveys through extensive off-site research, facility tours, and thorough reviews of care practices and documentation.
  • Engage with facility staff and families to gather insights and determine the quality of care provided.
  • Identify and communicate areas of non-compliance during site reviews and exit conferences, ensuring clarity on identified deficiencies.
  • Evaluate and approve plans of correction, conducting follow-up visits to verify implementation of necessary changes.
  • Participate in training sessions for facilities and contribute to workgroups as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Associate or Bachelor's degree in Nursing is required.
  • Completion of CMS's Long-Term Care Basic Training and successful passing of the Surveyor Minimum Qualifications Test (SMQT) is mandatory.
  • A minimum of two years of recent experience in surveying or accrediting long-term care facilities is essential.
  • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) is required.
  • Proven ability to make independent decisions and manage the survey process effectively.
  • Strong prioritization skills and the ability to address conflicts constructively.
  • Willingness to travel up to 75% of the time is a requirement.
