Cemetery Representative

As a Cemetery Representative with the Virginia Department of Veterans Services, you will play a critical role in ensuring that Virginia's veterans and their family members receive the benefits, support, and recognition they have earned through service and sacrifice.

• Assist the Superintendent and Administrative Supervisor in the operation and overall daily functions of the Virginia Veterans Cemetery at Amelia.
• Work directly with funeral directors and family members to secure supporting documentation for verification of eligibility.
• Perform data entry and scheduling/attending cemetery services for the deceased.
• Assist visitors and family members with locating gravesites and provide veteran burial information.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by the Superintendent and Administrative Supervisor.

• Knowledge of office procedures, including telephone etiquette and communication with the public.
• Computer skills, including Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook, as well as data entry and retrieving BOSS data.
• Ability to make sound decisions in the absence of the Cemetery Administrative Supervisor, Cemetery Superintendent, and Cemeteries Cemetery Director.
• Must be detailed, multi-task oriented, and demonstrate thorough accuracy in all aspects of burial operations.

• Familiarity with cemetery grounds equipment and procedures.
• Knowledge of NCA (National Cemetery Association) rules and regulations regarding eligibility of veterans and dependents.
• BOSS (Burial Operations Support System) proficiency within the first six months of hire.
